Maxine Evelyn Sorden, 88, of Coralville, formerly of Webster, died Nov. 6, 2005 in her home.

Services will be held at the Powell Funeral Home, North English at 11 a.m. Nov. 10. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery near Webster.

Maxine Evelyn Sorden was born on March 21, 1917, in Webster, a daughter of Frank and Fern Marshall Wright. She was graduated from Webster High School in 1935. She worked at the Webster railroad depot for several years before becoming the postal clerk.

Maxine was united in marriage to Hal S. Sorden on Nov.25, 1939 in Sigourney. They lived in the Webster community most of their lives. She retired from the Post Office in 1972.

Hal preceded her in death in December 1987. Maxine has lived the past 17 years in Coralville. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan.

She is survived by sons Gary Sorden and Randy(Linda) Sorden, four step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren, and a brother Dean LaVonne Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Sharyl Nebel and a brother Derald Wright.
