Death Takes D.M. Barnes

Doyle M. Barnes, 77, 204 W. Madison, died Saturday at 11:05 a.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. He had been in failing health for two years.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald L. Hickman officiating. Military honors and burial will be held at Mount Zion Cemetery north of Martinsburg.

Barnes was born Dec. 7, 1895 at Ioka, in Jefferson County. He was the son of F.J. and Dorothy Hobson Barnes. He was married to Nellie Hutton in 1922. She died in 1943. On Nov. 10, 1954 he was married to Edna McIntire Zillman, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Martin, Tucson, Ariz.; and three step-children, Robert Zillman and Mrs. Nellie Anderson, both of Fairfield; and Mrs. Doris Smith, Cockesville, Md.

Other survivors are three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one brother, H.H. Barnes, Dunbar, Wis.; and one sister, Mrs. Meta Myers, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
