In Response To: Divorce 19th century? (Sandy)

Hi, This is the first I had heard that Issac Jeffers may have been divorced from his first wife. Usually the wife would keep the children, but according to the family history he had them with him when he married Catherine Fuller Blanchard. (I am descended from Catherine Fuller's older brother David). Can't find the email right now, but a woman contacted me about 2 years ago, trying to find information on Issac Jeffer's first wife. The woman said her family had always thought Catherine Fuller was their ancestor, and then found out they were descended from the first wife.
From another family line I have found divorce wasn't as uncommon as once thought. Also found that children were told the missing parent was "dead" which makes research very hard! Desc endants of those children don't like finding out the truth!
