Unfortunately, the WPA transcriptions are not without errors. Jobs were created during the great depression for those down and out and one was transcribing headstones. Some errors came about due to poor stone conditions (doubt that in your case), people seeing one thing but thinking another when they wrote down what they read, or unable to completely decipher their own or others handwriting when it came down to typing out the notes.

In any event, if the dates are correct and the name is similar, I am almost 100% sure you have your person.

I think Oakwood is about ready to go online from what I heard from Joanne so she may have a better reading to pass on to you?
