Rev. Thompson, M.E. Church search

Someone graciously sent me an article from the Monticello Express of May 1881 that mentions a Rev. Mr. Thompson and wife. The article doesn't give first names or even initials of either but said he had replaced the Rev, J.L. Paine of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Monticello/Anamosa and later became the same for 3 years in Hopkinton.

Does anyone know who this Thompson is?

BTW, the article was about his arrest in Nebraska for wife beating.
