Last summer I went to Clinton, Iowa and then over to Anamosa. In Anamosa I went to the City Hall where all the burial records are kept and went to the geneology section of the library. There is no doubt that John Curttright was born in New York in 1804 and that he died at Anamosa Iowa. However, there is no record of his burial. I went to the cemetery and spoke to the groundskeeper and there is no record of his burial and no tombstone. However, in the older section of the cemetery there are a good number of graves which are unmarked. I have exhastively searched for the Curttright family in New York prior to 1804 and could not find any evidence of them. Part of the problem probably relates to the many spellings of the name. There are probably at least 10 different ways to spell the name including with a K such as Kortright.
