Stephen and Asa Bowen

BOWEN

More confusion to toss out on the table.

We are trying to find a link between Stephen Bowen and Hugh since the family all settled in the same area. Problem is that Asa Clark Bowen was born in NY and moved to IA about 1851 according to the 1856 Jones Co. census.

Know they probably first settled in Delaware County - South Fork/Sand Springs area where Asa and his brothers John and Truman purchased land.

In the 1880 census it says his father was born in RI which is consistant with the LDS files showing his father being Stephen born 1792 in RI. But both Stephen and his wife died in Herkimer County, NY according to records.

So who would have move this entire family to Iowa unless Stephen Bowen and wife Lucinda died in Iowa instead? Stephen died 1857 and Lucinda in 1865.

Any ideads?

Eric
