The deeper I dig the more I add to the puzzle!

Now I see the following:

Jones County Marriages, Sylvester Adams to Sarah Farmer on 4/11/1896. Parents shown are John Adams and Paulina Sheffield. Paulina Sheffield is said to be the wife to the elder Hugh Bowen. I see that John Adams and Paulina are living in Floyd County for the 1880 census. Says she was born NY c.1813 which would fit age wise.

Also see a Paulina Green married 6/14/1857 to John Adams but in 1856 and 1885 says she was a widow. It also says she was born c.1822 in OH so must be a different Paulina and John which takes us back to the above couple.

John Adams born c.1815 in OH is on the 1856 census, age 21, single and there 1 year. This would indicate that Paulina was not married to him then and was with Bowen at that point. But what happened to these marriages? Don't see Paulina and John nor Hugh and Paulina in Jones County?
