Joseph A. Robins died 1902 or 1908? Help!

Can someone look up a death in the Anamosa Courthouse and/or newspaper to verify if Joseph A. Robins born 1860 died either in 1902 or 1908?

The confusion comes in that some read the worn headstone as 1902 but the WPA says 1908. Would be July 4th in any event. He is in the Merritt Cemetery.
