Funeral services were held Monday Oct. 4, 1971 at the Scotch Grove Presbyterian church for John Emil Paulsen, 39, who died Friday, Oct. 1 following a tractor accident near his farm.
Born March 2, 1932 in Scotch Grove, he was the son of the Emil Paulsens. He attended the rural schools and was a graduate of Monticello high school. He served in Germany during World War II. He was married to Winifred DeWees; they have a son, Jeffrey, and three daughters, Tina, Susan and Dana.
In addition to his wife and children, Paulsen is survived by his parents; a brother, Ronald Paulsen, Scotch Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Hanken, Scotch Grove, and Mrs. William Williams, Eldora; and a grandmother, Mrs. John Petersen, Scotch Grove.
Graveside military services were held at the Wyoming cemetery. Pallbearers were Willis Harms, Clifford Helgens, Harlan Helgens, George Tobiason, Rex Rickels, John Henry Dirks, Raymond Poppe and Marvin Schneider.
