March 4, 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral services for Howard Cook were held at the Methodist church Wednesday, March 3, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Melvin Miller officiated. Burial was in Wilcox cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers were Perry Cook, Brian Cook, Michael Cook, Ted Williams, Robert Glenn, Joseph Glenn.

He passed away at a Cedar Rapids hospital March 1. He had been hospitalized since Feb. 25.

Born Nov. 6, 1895 at Anamosa he was the son of Jerome and Malinda Jane Coffitts Cook, and attended the Jones county schools. On Oct. 11, 1920, he married Alta Glenn at Olin and the couple farmed near Amber until moving to Anamosa in 1950. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Merlin, Hinsdale, Ill.; Galen, Omaha, Neb.; and Gene, Scotch Grove; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Also one brother, Walter Cook, Marion; two sisters, Mrs. James Hollister, and Mrs. Kyle Shankland, both of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one son, Leo, in 1968; his parents; two brothers and four sisters.
