25 February 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, for Howard B. Hart, 83, who died at the Anamosa Community hospital Monday following an illness of several weeks.

Rev. Melvin Miller will officiate at the services at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist church. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Born June 3, 1887, at Port Washington, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Telitha Bramer Hart. He married Maude Anderson June 1, 1910, at Anamosa. The couple farmed in Buffalo township, Linn county before moving to Anamosa in 1943. He was a member of the Methodist church, K.P. lodge and Pythian Sisters.

Casketbearers were Darrell Meredith, Dwayne Meredith, Cecil Anderson, Raymond Anderson, Gene Anderson and Roger Anderson.

Survivors include three sons, Merle J., Morley; Donald R., Maquoketa, and Robert W., Anamosa; and three daughters, Mrs. John (Helen) Ricklefs, Anamosa; Mrs. Rufus (Dorothy) Hanken, Mesa, Ariz.; and Mrs. Leo (Freda) Lawrence, Monticello; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild, one brother, Foster, of Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1960; an infant son and daughter; his parents and two sisters.
