Funeral services for Linda J. Herington, 31, were held Dec. 30 at St. John's Lutheran church, Olin. Mrs. Herington was killed Dec. 27 north of Olin on Highway 38 in a 2-car accident.

Born at Anamosa Sept.7, 1943, she was the daughter of Edgar and Leona Madsen Glenn. She graduated from Olin high school in 1961. She married Donald Herington June 2, 1962. She was employed by Pro-Gro near Mechanicsville at the time of her death.

Mrs. Herington was killed about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 27 that also took the life of Franklin Blahnik Jr. 43, rural Monmouth.

Blahnik was going west on a Jones county road when he failed to stop for a stop sign and ran into the side of the station wagon driven by Mrs. Herington who was going south on Highway 130 north of Olin.

The Herington station wagon ended up in the west ditch, several hundred feet from the intersection. Blahnik's pickup was just off the shoulder, in the west ditch. Blahnik was thrown about 50 feet through the windshield into the ditch, officers said.

The box of the pickup was thrown nearly 100 feet from the truck. Both vehicles were a total loss.

Ronnie L. Holland, 17, Monmouth, a passenger in Blahnik's pickup, was treated at an Anamosa hospital and released. There was also a small dog in the truck that was alive after the crash.
