Funeral services for Mrs. Mayme Shifflett will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa, Thursday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. Rev. Alfred Brosius will officiate. McNamara Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shifflett passed away at Anamosa Community hospital Tuesday, Dec. 29, following a massive coronary.

Rosary was recited at McNamara funeral home at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Casketbearers are Jim Balster, Mike Stoll, Joe Stoll, Rick Daly, Jim Novey and David Moser.

Mrs. Shifflett was born Mayme Murphy, daughter of Frank and Mary Hunt Murphy, June 20, 1888 at Knoxville, Iowa. She married Byron E. Shifflett. She lived her married life in Anamosa and was employed by Mercy hospital, Anamosa, for several years.

Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Joe Moser, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Burdell Maley, Fort Madison; Mrs. Patricia Balster, Mrs. Mary Niles and Mrs. Louis Stoll, all of Anamosa; and one son, James of Delmar.

She is also survived by one sister, Catherine Roberts, Springfield, Mo.; and one brother, Richard Murphy, Centralia, Mo.; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951.
