WYOMING - Mrs. Herman (Esther) Carstensen, 54, passed away at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Friday, Nov. 27.

Esther Lucille Carstensen was born near Center Junction Feb. 9, 1916, the daughter of Herman and Anna Thomsen Brodersen. She received her early schooling in rural schools near Center Junction, and graduated from Wyoming high school. After graduation she worked in Anamosa, and later as an operator at Wyoming Telephone Co. On Nov. 25, 1941, she married Herman Carstensen at Davenport. They spent their early married years farming near Center Junction, later moving to Wyoming for several years, and in 1959 again began farming on the present farm north of Wyoming.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Daryl; one daughter, Nancy, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Acel Catlett, Wyoming; and Mrs. Lloyd Fadley, Onslow. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 30, at 1:30 p.m., in the Wyoming Methodist church, with burial in the Wyoming cemetery. Rev. Lyle Meester was the clergyman.
