29 October 1970 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN - Steven Ray Petersen, 18, died Sunday, Oct. 25, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Olin.

A Family Prayer service was held at the Hayden Funeral home in Olin at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with Memorial services at Hayden's at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of Olin St. Paul's United Methodist church was in charge. Interment was in the Antioch cemetery, east of Anamosa.

Pallbearers included Monte Sauer, Michael Fall, Paul Jensen, Mark Lyon, Johnny Bodkin and Rodney Cozart.

Mrs. Galen Alexander was organist. Loren Hartwig was soloist. Selections included "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

He was born Aug. 9, 1952, son of Robert W. and Wanda Moore Petersen, at Anamosa. He grew up in the Hale community and attended the Olin Consolidated school. Until recently he had been employed at the Quad Cities Construction Co.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Petersen, Hale; one brother, Robert Petersen, Morley; two sisters, Kathy, Mrs. Richard Close, Olin; and Connie, at home.

He is also survived by two nieces and one nephew, his paternal grandfather and his maternal grandmother, a large number of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
