October 22, 1970 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. William Vincent, 87, Anamosa, died Monday evening, Oct. 19, following a brief illness.

Private funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. James Imlay will conduct the service. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery.

She was born Sept. 15, 1883, daughter of James and Angeline Shipley Velie, Page county, Iowa. She attended Page county schools. She was married Aug. 23, 1906, to William Vincent at Omaha, Nebr. Couple made their home in Woodward and Nelson, Nebr., before moving to Anamosa in 1927 where her husband was herdsman for the Men's Reformatory. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1954.

Survivors include a son, Bard Vincent, Concord, Calif.; a daughter, Vernice, Mrs. Charles Thompson, Anamosa; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Others include three sisters, Miss Stella Velie, Lansing; Mrs. Truman Ingersol, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Buck, Albuquerque, N. Mex.; two brothers, Aubry Velie, Lansing and Gilbert Velie, Marion.

Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
