July 30, 1970 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN - Mrs. Elna Grace Rohwedder died Tuesday, July 21, at the Anamosa Community hospital.

Order of Eastern Star services were held at the Hayden funeral home on Thursday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services were held at the Olin United Methodist church on Friday, July 24, at 2 p.m. Rev. Robert Jones conducted the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers included Hans R. Ahrendsen, Walter Stoner, Donald Sanderson, John Boyce, Stanley Allen and Paul Levsen.

Mrs. Ron Rogers was organist. Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen was soloist.

Mrs. Rohwedder was born at Lost Nation, the daughter of Ella and Frank Sanderson. She graduated from Lost Nation high school and from Cornell college in Mount Vernon.

She was married to Louis J. Rohwedder at Mount Vernon and lived all her married life in or near Olin, residing in Olin for more than 50 years.

She was a piano teacher in Olin for many years and was the church pianist and organist for over 40 years.

She was a member of the Olin Methodist church, the Women's Society of Christian Service, Order of Eastern Star, Past Matrons club, Twentieth Century club, Bow Knot club, and Olin Garden club.

Survivors include her daughter, Lois Stoner, and her husband, Jack, and granddaughter, Judith, Iowa City; two brothers, Maynard Sanderson, Spearfish, S. Dak., and Arlo Sanderson, Mount Vernon; two sisters, Loretta Sanderson, Mount Vernon, and Melitha Atherton, Springville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Leo.
