Michael David Schmaljohn, 9, died Monday, March 23, at Tommy Dale Memorial hospital, Sioux City.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 25, at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic church. Rev. Alfred Brosius conducted the service. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included C. J. Patnode, Mark Fulwider, John Parham and Duff Downing.

He was born Oct. 3, 1960, at Manhattan, Kans.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Don Fairley, and step father, Don Fairley, Anamosa; his father, Larry Schmaljohn, Jacksonville, Ill.; a brother, Steven; a half-sister, Paul Kay Fairley; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Butterfield, Anamosa; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Schmaljohn, Rayn.
