OLIN - Military services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 25, for Neil Wesley Vernon, 24, in the Olin Lutheran church. Rev. C. J. Mardorf officiated. Burial was in Olin cemetery.

Mr. Vernon was found murdered at a mountain side, near Ft. Smith, Ark., recently.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Vernon, Olin, he was born Dec. 28, 1929, and was baptized April 20, 1930. He attended Sunday school and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 2, 1933, by Rev. Arnold Sommer.

He completed his work at school and was graduated in 1947. After graduation he assisted his father, a house-moving contractor, for two years.

June 20, 1949, he enlisted in the navy and served as petty officer third class. He received his honorable discharge from service April 20, 1953.

For the last several months Mr. Vernon was employed in the office of the American Steel and Wire Col, at Shreveport, La. His plans were to return home soon. When he did not show up for work at the office Wednesday, May 19, a search for him was started and he was found murdered.

Surviving, besides his parents, are two brothers, Daryle and Lyle; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sulzner, and other relatives.
