6 May 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

George W. Fegan, 57, Anamosa, former manager of the Anamosa Produce, died Tuesday evening, May 4, at his home after a lingering illness.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Goettsch funeral home with Rev. Harold A. James officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Ray Hutchinson, Earl Pulver, Leigh Pearson, Cecil Wilson, Warren Rees and Don Gustafson.

George William Fegan was born in Anamosa July 3, 1896, the son of Joseph G. and Martha Grafft Fegan. He attended Anamosa schools. He was married to Zula Shanklin March 1, 1915, at Anamosa.

Except for a few years in Central City, the couple spent their entire married life in Anamosa. They were the parents of two sons, George J., Spokane, Wash., and Dale, deceased.

Mr. Fegan retired as general manager of the Anamosa Produce in 1946, after serving in that position for 25 years. He was a member of the Anamosa Masonic lodge, Iowa Consistory, El Kahir Shrine, and the Anamosa Methodist church.

Surviving, besides his wife and son, are a brother, John, Monticello; a sister, Mrs. Berniece Tirey, Mitchell, Ind., a half-sister, Mrs. Dora Dursten, Butte, Mont.; and three grandchildren.

Besides his son, he was also preceded in death by his parents.
