Funeral services for Vernon Hodgden, 89, Oxford Junction, were held Dec. 30 at the United Methodist church with burial in the Mayflower cemetery. Hodgden was born in Jones county and was married to Sophie Krutzfield in 1905. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Hodgden, a retired farmer, died at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Dec. 27.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Verda) Merritt, Clarence; Mrs. Erma Clapp, Oxford Junction; sons, Floyd, Oxford Junction; Gerald, Wyoming; Charles, Mt. Vernon and Wayne, Tipton. There are 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
