Mrs. Lottie Porter, 85, former Anamosa resident, died Sunday morning, Sept. 26, at Crawford nursing home, Independence, Mo., after a lingering illness.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Goettsch funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Walter D. Wigger will officiate. Burial will be Antioch cemetery.

Mrs. Porter was born Feb. 23, 1869, in Hazel Green community in Jackson township, the daughter of Walter and Mary Sherman James. She was married to Frank Porter April 3, 1889, in Wyoming.

Mr. and Mrs. Porter farmed in Antioch until 1917, when they retired and moved to Anamosa. Mr. Porter preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1930.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Lula) Carmichael, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Lee (Stella) Crain, Olin, and Mrs. Elda Given, Chicago; two sons, J. E. Porter, Anamosa, and Floyd, Scotch Grove. Six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Kegley, Cedar Rapids, also survive.
