Funeral service for Fredrick Joseph Barkwill, 66, former Anamosa resident, was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Goettsch funeral home, Anamosa. Mr. Barkwill died at his home in Cedar Rapids Wednesday night, Aug. 4, after a lingering illness.

Rev. W. Russell Hunter, pastor of Presbyterian church, Monticello, officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.

Mr. Barkwill was born at Goodwin, S. Dak., Sept. 29, 1887. A retired carpenter, he moved from Anamosa to Cedar Rapids in 1946. He had resided in Marion and Cedar Rapids for more than 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, Cleo; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ernest Benedict, Anamosa; two step-sons, Richard Long, Des Moines, and Fred Long, jr., Cedar Rapids, and five grandchildren.

Five brothers and two sisters also survive. They are, Charles E. and Thomas A. Barkwill, Marion; Walter Barkwill, Melvin; Myron Barkwill, Hollywood, Fla., and Hugh Barkwill, whose address is unknown; Stella Stickland, Hollywood, Fla.; and Agnes Miller, Tuscson, Ariz.
