Peter Oeschger, 95, passed away at the Onslow Nursing Home Tuesday evening, after an illness of many years. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, July 8, from the Devaney funeral home to the Sacred Heart Church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be made at the Sacred Heart cemetery with the Rev. E. P. Lorenz officiating at the Requiem High Mass and the graveside services.

Born in St. Donatus, Iowa, Feb. 14, 1869, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Oeschger. He was educated in the schools of that vicinity and on January 10, 1894, he was married to Catherine Hansen at the St. Mary's church in Cascade.

In 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Oeschger moved with their family to Monticello where he was engaged in carpentry work. Mrs. Oeschger preceded her husband in death in 1935.

A lifelong resident of the Monticello community, except for the past four years when he became a patient of the nursing home, he was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include four sons, Lawrence of Laramie, Wyo., Bernard of Grants Pass, Oregon, Ambrose of Scotch Grove and Arnold of Sanger, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. Rose Hines and Mrs. Marty Lee, both of Iowa City. Also surviving are one brother, Charles of Cascade, and three sisters, Mrs. Susan Staner, Monticello, Mrs. Mary Like, Anamosa, and Mrs. Maggie Grollinger of Cascade; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Pallbearers included John Hines, George Hines, Richard Lee, Robert Lee, William Lee and John Lee, all grandsons of the deceased. The Devaney funeral home had charge of arrangements.
