14 June 1954 - The Anamosa Journal

Addison Myers, 44, died at Anamosa Mercy hospital Sunday, June 13, following a long illness. He was a former Wyoming resident.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the Anamosa Methodist church with Rev. H. A. James officiating. McNamara funeral home is handling arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lillian Ireland, Anamosa.

He spent all his life in Wyoming, until moving to Anamosa two years ago following his marriage. Mr. Myers was employed at the Eddy Paper Co., Cedar Rapids.

Funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the Anamosa Methodist church for Addison J. Myers, 44, who died Sunday, June 13, at Mercy hospital after a lingering illness.

Rev. H. A. James officiated. Burial was at Riverside cemetery. Serving as casketbearers were Charles Zimmer, Eugene Young, Henry Fishwild, Robert Boise, Jerry Boise and Charles Ryan.

Son of George and Susan Pierce Myers, he was born in Central City, Dec. 20, 1909. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Davenport.

After a brief stay in Davenport, they moved to Wyoming, where Mr. Myers spent most of his life. He attended the Wyoming schools and joined the Wyoming Methodist church.

He made his home with his widowed mother caring for her until her death in 1950. Feb. 21, 1953, he was married to Lillian L. Ireland, Anamosa. Since his marriage he had made his home in Anamosa. He transferred his membership to the Anamosa Methodist church, April 4, 1954.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving, besides his wife, are his twin brother, Hillis, St. Cloud, Minn.; a brother, Dean, Whittier, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. David Johnson, Chicago, and other relatives.
