WYOMING - Mary Elizabeth Brutsman, 81, Cedar Rapids, former Wyoming resident, died at St. Luke's hospital Wednesday, May 26, following a long illness.

Mary Elizabeth Fox was born Feb. 15, 1873, at Loran, Ill. She was the youngest daughter of William and Ursula Fox and one of 12 children. She spent her childhood in Illinois and later in Monmouth.

She was married April 8, 1890, to Howard Brutsman at Anamosa. To this union six daughters were born, one of whom preceded her in death. She was Gladys, Mrs. James Story, April 30, 1928.

Their entire life was spent on a farm 5 miles west of Wyoming until they retired and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1929.

Surviving are her husband, Howard Brutsman, Cedar Rapids; and five daughters, Pearl, Mrs. Burr Hummel, Newton; Bessie, Mrs. Ray Hendrickson, Springville; Hazel, Mrs. Elmer Storm, Wyoming; Lila, Mrs. William Thompson, Cedar Junction; and Edna, Mrs. Charles Huggans, Maquoketa. She also had seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Services were conducted at the Wallace funeral home in Wyoming at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, by Rev. Florence Somerville. Burial was at the Wyoming cemetery.
