WIlliam Vincent, 81, Anamosa, herdsman at the Men's reformatory for 32 years, died at Mercy hospital, early Sunday morning, May 16, after a short illness.

Private funeral services will be held pending on the arrival of a son in the army. Cremation committal will be held. Body was taken to the family home Monday afternoon where friends may call. Family requests that no flowers be sent. Goettsch funeral home is in charge.

Mr. Vincent was born at Malcolm, Ill., Dec. 23, 1872, the son of Robert and Mary Vawter. He was married to Mary Velie, Aug. 23, 1906, at Omaha, Nebr.

For eight years Mr. Vincent was herdsman at the Woodward state farm. He then moved to Nelson, Nebr., where he operated a store. He came to Anamosa in 1926, where he retired as herdsman at the reformatory in 1951.

At one time he served a secretary of the Iowa State Holstein Breeders association.

Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Major Vard Vincent, U.S. army; a daughter, Mrs. Vernice Thompson, Anamosa, and three grandchildren.
