ONSLOW - Memorial rites for Pfc. Dale Tjaden, Onslow, will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14 at Wayne Zion Evangelical Lutheran church.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Tjaden, he was reported missing in action in Korea October 1951 and listed as "presumed dead" by the defense department Dec. 31, 1953.

Pfc. Tjaden was born in Wayne township Dec. 25, 1926 and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith Oct. 20, 1940. He graduated from Onslow high school in May 1945.

He entered military service in Feb. 1951 and trained at Fort Riley, Kans. Following a short furlough in June 1951 he left from Fort Lawton, Wash., July 5 and arrived in Japan July 15. He was later assigned to duty and entered combat at Inchon on with the first calvery division July 22.

Besides his parents he is survived by three brothers, Eldon and Edward, Onslow; and LaVern, Olin; three sisters, Mrs. Wesley Stanford, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Paul Andre and Mrs. Glen Smith, both of Onslow.

Rev. F. H. Kehren conducted the service aided by the Onslow American Legion and V.F.W.
