Albert Johnson, 66, long-time employee at the Men's reformatory, died unexpectedly at his home in Anamosa last Thursday afternoon, Jan. 14.

Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Goettsch funeral home with Rev. H. A. James officiating.

Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Bernard Bunce, Lenard Streets, Carl Hay, T. L. Taylor, Kenneth Larsen and Ralph Beardsley.

Mr. Johnson, son of the late Ben and Etta Beam Johnson, was born south of Anamosa March 15, 1887. He grew to manhood, received his education and became a member of Forest Chapel church, while living south of Anamosa.

He was married to Miss Augusta Shoop May 6, 1908.

Mr. Johnson continued to engage in farming for a number of years, but in the spring of 1921 moved to Anamosa. He secured employment at the Men's reformatory, where he served more than 20 years as a captain.

Mr. Johnson's hobbies were fishing and hunting. Ill health forced him to retire last September.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Reva Brodene, Park Forest, Ill., and one brother, Clyde, Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oct. 11, 1949, his parents and one sister, Mrs. Ada Shoop.
