February 15, 1954 - The Anamosa Journal

Mrs. G. R. Wilkinson, 58, died unexpectedly at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14 at her home in Anamosa.

Funeral arrangements were pending at The Journal went to press. Body is at Goettsch funeral home.

Mrs. Wilkinson was employed in the office of Drs. J. D. Paul and Gerald Brown, Anamosa.

February 18, 1954 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral service for Mrs. G. R. Wilkinson, 57, who died unexpectedly at her home Sunday, Feb. 14, after suffering a coronary disorder, was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Goettsch funeral home.

Rev. H. A. James officiated at the service. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were P. S. Robertson, Leigh Pearson, Thomas B. Powell, Eugene B. Rees, Virgil Van Kirk and Howard Remley.

Nellie Marie Wilkinson, daughter of Edawrd and Mary Chipman, was born Feb. 24, 1896, at Creston. At the age of seven, she moved with her parents to Maquoketa, where she lived 10 years.

Family came to Anamosa in 1913, where Mrs. Wilkinson resided until her death.

Mrs. Wilkinson was graduated from Anamosa high school in 1915. During the World War I she was an army nurse.

Sept. 23, 1920, she was married to Dr. George Robert Wilkinson and three children were born to this union.

Mrs. Wilkinson joined the Anamosa Methodist church in 1924. She was also active as a Past Matron, Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Legion auxiliary, Delphians, and Business and Professional Women's club, Anamosa.

For seven years she had served as nurse and receptionist in the offices of Dr. J. D. Paul and Dr. Gerald F. Brown.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Roy, Cedar Rapids, a daughter, Martha, Sacramento, Calif.; her mother, Mrs. Mary Chipman; two brothers, Howard and Clyde and one sister, Mrs. Jennie McCullough, all of Anamosa.

Preceding her in death were her father, who died in 1941, and one child, Lee Edward, who died in 1925 at the age of three.
