HENRY G SEEHUSEN 86, PASSED AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Henry G. Seehusen passed away at the John McDonald hospital Friday evening, April 11, following a long illness. Born in Ostfriesland, Germany, on Jan. 11, 1866, he was the son of George and Wubke Seehusen.
When he was 17 years old, in 1883, he entered the United States and lived with an uncle at Chatwood, Ill. Later he moved to Amber and the neighboring communities and was employed on farms. On February 18, 1892, he was
united in marriage to Margarite Ahlrichs and they lived in Scotch Grove township, later moved to Castle Grove and in 1936 retired from farming and moved to Monticello. Mr. and Mrs. Seehusen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942. They were the parents of ten children, nine of whom are living. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1950, and a son, John.
Surviving are seven sons and two daughters: George, Monticello; Herman, Wyoming; Carl, Center Junction; William, Cedar Rapids; Rudolph, Mechanicsville; Henry F., Monticello; Alfred, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Ann Elsasser, Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. P. J. Carr, Cheyenne, Wyo. Also 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 16, at two o'clock in the afternoon from the St. Matthew's Lutheran church with the Rev. H. L. Adix officiating. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery. Pallbearers included grandsons of the deceased: Marvin, Mahlon, Glenn, James and Gene Seehusen, and John Eden.
