WYOMING - Funeral service was held at the Wyoming Funeral home Sunday afternoon, Sept. 27, for Herman Sieveka, 80, who died Sept. 26, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, after an illness of eight days.

Rev. George Gaide, Olin, officiated. Walter Sullivan, accompanied by Mrs. Sullivan sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Nearer My God To Thee". Casketbearers were Robert Krutzfield, Irvin Sievers, John Von Spreecken, Harry Rohwedder, Louis Wright and Paul Levsen.

Herman Sieveka was born in Clinton county, Nov. 30, 1872.

At the age of six years he came to Jones county. He was the oldest of seven children of Frederick and Marie Sieveka. He attended rural schools in Madison township and later the Wyoming school during the winter months until he was 16 years of age.

As a young man, Mr. Sieveka worked on farms by the month and in 1897 he began farming on shares with is uncle, Pete Levsen, on the farm which he later bought and operated until his death. He was married in 1900 to Maria Schmalfeldt, and to this union two children were born: Peter, Olin, and Helma, now Mrs. Rudolph Botel, La Grange, Ill. His wife died in 1929.

Besides his children his survivors include one grandson, Rudy Botel, jr., and five brothers and sisters: Ed Sieveka, Center Junction; Tille Overly, Ernest Sieveka, and Ella Krutzfield, all of Wyoming. Two sisters preceded him in death, one in infancy, and Fredricka Rohwedder, in 1915.

Mr. Sieveka was well known in Jones county as a cattle feeder.
