27 July 1953 - The Anamosa Journal

STONE CITY - Herbert H. LaBarge, 63, died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, Saturday morning, July 25, after an illness of several years.

Funeral service was held Monday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Stone City. Rev. Eugene P. Lorenz officiated. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery, Anamosa. McNamara funeral home handled arrangements.

Herbert Harvey LaBarge was born in Buffalo township July 4, 1890, the son of Dennis and Jennie LaBarge. When he was a small child the family moved to a farm at Stone City. He has lived in Stone City since that time.

Mr. LaBarge never married.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jennie LaBarge, Stone City; two sisters, Mrs. George Drumbarger, Anamosa, and Mrs. Walter Cook, and one brother, Clifford, Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Joseph Alson.

STONE CITY - Funeral service for Herbert H. LaBarge, 63, who died Saturday, July 25, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a long illness was held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Stone City.

Rev. Eugene Lorenz conducted the service. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery.

One of five children of Dennis and Chillstine LaBarge, he was born on the Matsell Estate, July 4, 1890.

He lived in Linn county all his life, where he was engaged in farming.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Joseph Alson, and his father.

He is survived by his mother; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Cook, Alburnett; Mrs. George Drumbarger, Anamosa; and a brother, Clifford, Anamosa, and a number of nieces and nephews.
