OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service for Mrs. Will Shields, 82, was held in Oxford Junction at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, from the Hayden Funeral home. She died Sunday, July 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Fischer, at Milwaukee, after an illness of five years, the last two she was bed-fast.

Rev. Kenneth Harden of the Methodist church conducted the service. Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen was the soloist and she was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Lewis Hayden.

Serving as casket bearers were Harold Wilson, Raymond Hamilton, Clarence Bowker, Robert Arliss, John Carstensen and Allan Elliot. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Mrs. Fields was born Margaret Elliot, in Scott county, April 8, 1870, the daughter of John and Katherine Elliot. She was united in marriage to Will Shields, Sept. 26, 1894, and they lived for many years in the Oxford Junction community.

For a time they operated a nursery business southwest of town, later retiring to Oxford Junction, but for sometime they have been living away from here. Mr. Shields died in 1935.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucile Fischer; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. David Wilson, Davenport, and Mrs. Chauncy Hodgden, Oxford Junction. One daughter preceded her in death.
