OLIN - George C. Lane, 76, long-time resident of Olin, died at the home of his daughter at Mt. Vernon, Sunday, April1 2, after a brief illness.

Funeral service was held at the Campbell funeral home, Olin, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, with Rev. Lloyd Dutro officiating. Nellie Stivers sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and Does Jesus Care" accompanied by Elna Rohwedder.

Velma Switzer and Erma Dutro were in charge of floral offerings.

Casket bearers were Walter Laetare, Frederick Miles, Leon Stivers, William Kell, Melvin Ramsey and Maynard Gordon. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.

George C. Lane, son of George H. and Mary Coleman Lane, was born in Olin, Sept. 11, 1876. He had lived almost his entire life in Olin and vicinity, attending the Olin school, where he was graduated with the class of 1894.

On Sept. 5, 1905, he was united in marriage to Bessie Loomis at Stanwood. Three children were born to this union.

In 1942, Mrs. Lane's health began to fail and while they still maintained their home in Olin they spent a considerable part of their time in the home of their daughter.

Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Lane; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Reimers, Mt. Vernon; two sons, Paul, Marion and Maurice, Anamosa.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Dolly Mitchell and Mrs. Zella Smith, both of Cedar Rapids; three granddaughters and one grandson, and a number of other relatives.
