Richard C. Kershner, 74, died Tuesday night in Mercy hospital, Anamosa, where he had been taken Tuesday following a stroke and a three-week siege of influenza.

Funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral home, Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr., officiating. Burial will be in Wilcox cemetery, Viola.

Richard Conrad Kershner was born Nov. 10, 1975, son of John and Elnora Kershner, Redding, Pa. He grew to manhood in Pennsylvania, coming to Iowa at the age of 20. On Dec. 4, 1895, he was married to Rozella Preston of Cass. They farmed for a period of time, and Mr. Kershner was employed at the Anamosa reformatory from 1911 until 1942 when they moved to Missouri.

Following five years spent on a farm near LaBelle, Mo. the couple moved back to Anamosa a year ago.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. R. H. Soper, Anamosa, and Mrs. Henry Anderson, Central City, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
