HALE - Funeral service for Fritz Kruse, 85, Hale, who died Saturday following a year's illness, was held from Harrington Funeral home, Wyoming, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. F. E. Somerville in charge.

Mrs. Frank Riches and Mary Jane Alden sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Mrs. Walter Sullivan.

Casket bearers were Chris Paulsen, Frank Zaruba, Luther Inglis, Ernest Wooder, W. H. Cruise and Clifford Jones. Burial was in Wyoming cemetery.

Mr. Kruse was a son of the late John and Sophia Detlef Kruse. He was born Jan. 12, 1865, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The family came to America when Fritz was five years old settling in Lyons, where he attended school. When he was a young man the family moved to a farm near Wyoming, alter buying a farm near Hale.

Following his marriage to Miss Ethel Brush, Wyoming, July 28, 1909, he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad at Amarillo, Texas. In 1917 they returned to Hale to care for his aged parents. For the next 25 years he served as assistant postmaster and mail messenger, retiring three years ago.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Lyons but after moving to Hale became a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors are his wife, a brother, Henry Kruse, Iowa City, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Flanigan, Chicago, Ill.
