MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Alida B. Townsend, 62, of Center Jct. were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 17, at Goettsch funeral home in Monticello. The Rev. John C. Beran officiated. Interment was in the Scotch Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Townsend died Friday morning, Oct. 13, in John McDonald hospital. She had suffered a heart attack a few hours earlier.

She was born June 14, 1905 and was the daughter of Henry and Martha Eggers Balster. She spent her entire life in the Scotch Grove and Center Jct. communities. She was married Sept. 6,1926 to Harvey Townsend.

Survivors include five children, Harvey, Cecil and Martin of Marion, Ohio, Henry of Scotch Grove, and Mrs. Laurence (Gertrude) De Sotel of Marion, Ia., her mother, Mrs. Martha Balster, Scotch Grove, and 22 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Fred.

Pallbearers were Dillon Mead, Gale Williams, Leonard Serbousek, William Wessels, Howard Andrews and Louis Moran.
