March 16, 1950 - The Anamosa Journal

SPRINGVILLE - Funeral for Mrs. George Gunnison, who lived near Springville, was held Feb. 25 at Anamosa Methodist church, Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr. in charge. Burial was at Wilcox cemetery, Viola. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, handled arrangements.

Mrs. Gunnison, who died Feb. 23, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Larson of Anamosa. She was born Aug. 19, 1890, and lived near Anamosa until her marriage on June 6, 1912, to George Gunnison, Springville.

She attended Pleasant Ridge school and Anamosa high school.

After their marriage, the Gunnisons lived near Springville and Marion until 1926, when they moved to a farm near Stanley, Iowa. They returned to Marion in 1943.

Mrs. Gunnison was a member of the Anamosa Methodist church, the Marion Eastern Star chapter, and the Stanley chapter of the Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and three brothers, Lee, Clifford and James.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Williams, Walker, and a son, Norman Gunnison, Stanley; two brothers, Earl and Glen Larson, both of Anamosa, and two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Holmes, Amber, and Miss Jennie Larson, Olin. Her husband also survives.
