ANAMOSA - Funeral services for Leonard Calloway, 68, were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral home in Anamosa.

Rev. J. Ellis Webb, minister of Anamosa Methodist church, conducted the services. Burial was in Antioch cemetery.

Mr. Calloway died Friday, March 13 at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a brief illness.

He was born August 9, 1890 at Frankfort, Ky., the son of George and Anna McKee Calloway.

He married Mary Shirk Holmes at Indianola, Ia., May 31, 1927, and they farmed in Jackson and Jones county, residing for the past six years five miles southeast of Anamosa.

He served in the Navy during World War I and was a member of the Wyoming Legion Post No. 259, which conducted military services at graveside.

He is survived by his wife; a stepson, James W. Holmes of Sterling, Mass.; a son, George W. Calloway of Center Junction; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Vivian) Hay of Anamosa, Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Von Spreecken of Center Junction, Mrs. Harold (Marilyn) Eggers of Anamosa and Mrs. Richard (Carol) Hefler of Key West Fla.

Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. John W. Leuty of Prairie City, and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucille.

Pallbearers were Herman Nissen, Kyle Alden, Edwin Reid, Bill Carson, Orville Nielsen and James Austin.
