MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Ernest J. Schnier, 65, were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. Joseph Schemmel, LaMotte, officiated and interment was in Sacred Heart cemetery.

Mr. Schnier died late Friday afternoon, Nov. 3, at John McDonald hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 18, 1902, the son of Henry and Anna Baum Schnier, in Worthington.

On May 31, 1926, he married Edith Schemmel at St. Paul's church in Worthington. The couple had farmed west of Monticello for the past 30 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Dave (Helen) Morgan of Monticello; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Bell and Mrs. Lawrence Schemmel, both of Dyersville, and Mrs. Gay Soppe of Worthington; two brothers, Edwin of Worthington and Alfred of Chicago, Ill.

Pallbearers were Robert Mullen, Lyle Ridenour, Victor Kraus, Paul Black, Irvin Lubben and Harold Rockzien.
