Services for John Brashaw, 86, who died last Thursday morning at John McDonald hospital, were held Saturday morning at 9:30 from the Devaney funeral home to the Sacred Heart church. Rev. Eugene Lorenz offered the requiem high mass, preached the sermon and officiated at the grave in Sacred Heart cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matt Holub, Rudolph Flack, John Specht, Lester Hearn, Ed Heeren and Frank Burlington.

The son of James and Mary (Evans) Brashaw, he was born Aug. 14, 1865, at East St. Louis, Ill. He married Rose Kaufmann, April 20, 1905, at Elizabeth, Ill., where the couple lived before moving to a farm near Monticello. In 1935 the couple retired and have lived in Monticello ever since.

He is survived by his widow; two sons, Clarence, of Dubuque, and E. W. Branshaw, of Monticello, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
