MONTICELLO - Private funeral services for Mrs. John H. (Ethel) Fraser, 85, active and prominent Monticello resident, were held at Devaney funeral home Tuesday at 12:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Fraser died Sunday morning, March 17, at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness. She was born July 9, 1882, in Monticello, the daughter of Geroge H. and Annabelle Wilson Geroge, well known pioneer family.

She graduated from Rockford girls' school and the University of Wisconsin. She also did graduate work at Iowa State university, Ames.

She taught in northern Wisconsin, Idaho and at Anamosa. On July 29, 1915, she married Dr. John H. Fraser in Ames.

During World War II she taught, as a substitute frequently in Monticello schools.

She was active in many organizations and helped organize the local Camp Fire group in Monticello, one of the first in the state. She also helped found the Kate Maurice scholarship fund, now known as the Student Loan fund.

Survivors include: her husband; two sons, John Jr., of Monticello, and George H. of Portland, Ore; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Ray of Monticello.

The family requests that any contributions for memorials be made to the Student Loan fund.
