Dorothy E. Fritz, 85, of Oxford Junction, Iowa died Monday, Jan. 22, 1990 at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa.

Dorothy was born Aug. 28, 1904 at Morley, the daughter of Henry and Elsa May Peck Seeger. She attended Morley Public Schools and graduated from Cornell High School in Mount Vernon. She received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers' College in Cedar Falls and taught for several years in the Oxford Mills school system.

On June 21, 1928, she married Fred N. Fritz. She and Fred made their home in Oxford Junction. Fred died in August of 1941.

Dorothy owned and operated the Oxford Junction Theater for over 40 years. She also owned theaters in Wilton and What Cheer, Iowa. She was also employed by the Shimanek Law Office in Oxford Junction and had also been employed by the City of Oxford Junction.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oxford Junction; and she belonged to the Clio Club and Community Club, both of Oxford Junction.

She is survived by one son, Richard, of North English, Iowa; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 26 at the United Methodist Church in Oxford Junction with the Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial was in Mayflower Cemetery at Oxford Junction. Casketbearers were Richard Wink, Duane Jurgensen, Robert Fowler, Vernon Steffens, Vernon Shedek and Gayle Ahrendsen.
