Funeral services were held for Emile Burian, 77 of Oxford Junction at 10:30 on Wednesday, November 26 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Doug Holmgren. The Hayden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Delmar Mershon, Robert Eads, Emery Meade, Emile Pavlista, Arnold Sobotka and Herman Hintz. The organist was Annette Rehmke and vocalists were Mrs. Otto Koranda and Herbert Rehmke.

Mr. Burian died Sunday morning, November 23 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. He was born November 24, 1902 in Oxford Junction to Mary Burian.

He attended Oxford Junction Schools. Mr. Burian worked as a farm hand, grocery store clerk and also drove a truck. He was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad for over 30 years and retired in 1965.

On June 4, 1924 he was married to Grace Slouha in Davenport and they lived all of their married life in Oxford Junction.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Darleen) Steffens of Oxford Junction; two grandsons, Gary of Oxford Junction and Greg of Grinnell and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his mother and one brother.
