Services were held for Emma Auguste Behnken Monday, March 26th at 1:15 p.m. from the Goettsch Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. from the Wayne Zion Lutheran church. She passed away at the John McDonald hospital Thursday, March 22, after being a patient there for eight days. She was 38 years old.

Emma Auguste Behnken was born on June 12, 1912 in Cass Township, the daughter of Harm Behnken and Elise Belling Behnken. When eight years old, she moved with her parents on a farm near Scotch Grove where she attended the rural schools.

Her father, Harm Behnken, preceded her in death in 1928 and her sister Helen in 1938.

She is survived by her mother and step father, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brokens of Scotch Grove, her sister, Martha, Mrs. Clarence Rickels of Wyoming and 14 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included Russell Rickels, Virgil Rickels, Louis Thumann, Harm Behnken, John Bents and Raymond Dose. Interment was made in Wayne Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
