MONTIELLO - Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Hoffman, 65, Monticello, were held Wednesday morning, March 22, at the First Presbyterian church, with interment in Oakwood cemetery. The Rev. John Benj. Wild conducted the services.
Mrs. Hoffman died at John McDonald hospital Monday, March 20, following surgery on a hip she had fractured four days earlier.
Kathryn Hoffman was born near Monticello, July 4, 1901, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Hein Buol. She received her education in the Jones county rural schools.
On Jan.8, 1923, she married Herman Hoffman at Monticello and the couple had always lived in the Monticello area. She was a member of First Presbyterian church.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Mrs. Sam (Ruth) Reyner, Monticello, Mrs. Joseph (Ramona) Cermak, Iowa City, and Leonard W. Hoffman, Trenton, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Claire Aitchison, Mrs. Kenneth Serbousek and Miss Edna Buol, all of Monticello; and seven brothers, George, Martin, William, Ben, Adam and Paul of Monticello, and Casper Buol of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.
Her parents and two brothers, John and Edward, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Raymond Buol, Robert L. Buol, Robert J. Buol, Roland Buol, LaVern Buol and William Aitchison.
