MONTICELLO -- Funeral services for Robert H. Moncrief, 78, were held Wednesday afternoon, March 1, at the Goettsch funeral home, with the Rev. John B. Wild conducting the services. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello.

Mr. Moncrief died at John McDonald hospital early Monday morning, Feb. 27, where he had been a patient for four weeks. He was born near Center Jct., the son of Robert J. and Florence Courtney Moncrief, March 8, 1888. He attended the Center Jct. area schools.

On Jan. 22, 1908, he married Carrie Conley and the couple farmed until moving to Monticello in 1925. He worked for a number of years as a maintenance man for the City of Monticello, retiring 14 years ago.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Stanley, and a half-brother.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Mrs. Florence Bartels and Curtis Moncrief, Monticello, Mrs. Halbert (Helen) Miller of Chicago, Ill., Robert Moncrief of Cedar Rapids, Dean Moncrief of Monticello and Dwight Moncrief of Chicago; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Carson and Mrs. Goldie Smith, both of Cedar Rapids.

Pallbearers were John Bunting, Kenneth Schneider, John Boysen, Edward Cashen, Uri Blanchard and Eggie Schoon.
