CENTER JCT. - Funeral services for Mrs. Dena Antons, 82, were conducted Monday afternoon, Feb. 13, at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello. The Rev. Luther Wachholz was in charge with interment in the Wayne Zion cemetery.

Mrs. Antons died at John McDonald hospital early Friday morning following a brief illness.

Margaret Dena Antons was born at Dunum Ostfriesland, Germany, March 18, 1884, the daughter of Henry and Maria C. Bunger Lurkens. She received her education in Germany, coming to the United States in 1900.

On April 24, 1902, she married Gerhard Antons and the couple had always lived in the Center Jct. community. She was a member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran church.

Survivors include nine children, Mrs. Herman (Tena) Petersen, Mrs. Herman (Marie) Osterkamp, Mrs. Elmer (Ann) Hinrichs, Mrs. Rhinehart (Elsie) Dirks, Mrs. Gail (Selma) Catlett, Richard and Raymond, all of Center Jct., Mrs. Carl (Caroline) Ortgies of Anamosa and Mrs. Arthur (Dorothy) Rickels of Scotch Grove. Twenty eight grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, four brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers were Melvin Dirks, Emil Ortgies, Marvin Rickels, Willian Antons, Neal Paulsen and Gary Catlett.
